As the city of Great Falls continues to grow, so do its needs. Recently, city officials announced that work will begin to upgrade various "sidewalk and pedestrian facilities" around the city.

Great Falls Sidewalks and Area Getting Upgraded

According to a press release we received, the Montana Department of Transportation has partnered with Montana Materials and Construction and KLJ Engineering to begin "replacing non-compliant Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sidewalk ramps, constructing new sidewalks, replacing sidewalks in poor condition, and adding/replacing pedestrian signals and push buttons."

Officials say construction is already underway near 14th Street at 8th Avenue North and will continue to 9th Avenue South.

But they're not stopping there.

The release goes on to say that once school is wrapped up for the summer, additional improvements will be made on the city's northwest side.

Later this summer, work will begin on 15th Street from 9th Avenue South to 8th Avenue North. And then next spring, 1st Avenue North and 2nd Avenue North will get an upgrade.

"How in the World Are We Supposed to Keep Up with These Upgrades?"

You're obviously going to want to plan ahead and be cautious when traveling through those areas. Officials remind motorists to be on the look out for signage, temporary parking restrictions, etc. But don't worry!
