The Dash-Inn In Lewistown Is Getting Some Awesome Upgrades
There's just something so magical about small town drive-inns. I was lucky enough to have one integrated into my life, (The Main Drive Inn in Conrad) and as is typical, it was one of the places I worked in the summer as a teen. In fact, when you grow up in a small town that has one of these it seems like 2/3 of the people you know have worked there at one time or another in their lives.
You have a favorite that you order every time, and sometimes, you don't even have to actually order. You pull up to the drive-inn expecting to let them know what you want, and they pop up with your regular order.
God, I love small towns.
The Dash Inn in Lewistown
This is a drive-inn that's legendary in central Montana. And when I say central Montana, I mean central. Lewistown is the geographical center of the state.

Does the Dash Inn Have a "Signature" Dish?
I'm glad you asked. They do have a burger that people will come from miles around to order. It's called the "Wagon Wheel". If you've ever had a Cow Pie at the state fair, that's exactly what a Wagon Wheel is.
From KRTV, General Manager, Taryan Proctor describes it like this:
“It's like a hamburger but we put it between two pieces of white bread and put it in a machine that makes it into a circular shape. So it's like an Uncrustable, but with meat in it.”
Checking out Trip Advisor and Yelp, other customers highly recommend the fries, onion rings, shakes and the famous cinnamon Coke or chocolate cherry Coke. I've had both kinds of these Cokes in the past, you MUST try them.
The Dash Inn is Under New Ownership
Felicia Threadgill and a partner took over the Dash Inn in May. They have big plans for the business, delivery in Lewistown, a food truck, expand the current drive-in and even add a second location.
The next time you head from Great Falls to Billings, take the long way and treat yourself to a Montana staple in the center of the state at the Dash-Inn. Your tummy will thank you for it.
