There May Be A Simple Explanation for Seeing Bigfoot in Montana

The tales of legendary creatures in Montana have been around since I was a child, so that means it has been a long time. I grew up with the stories of the Flathead Lake Monster from my parents and grandparents. I have also traveled across the globe to see if the Loch Ness Monster is real, but I can save that story for another time.

Montana "Sasquatch" Sightings

Working in radio over the years in Montana, we have had many callers tell tales of not knowing what creature was scampering around the woods in the dark of night. More than one person has been convinced that those creatures in Montana are "Bigfoot" aka "Sasquatch". I believe that the creature does exist. I also prefer “Sasquatch” to “Bigfoot” when describing this majestic beast. There have been movies dedicated to the animal. One of my all-time favorites is Harry and The Hendersons. I won’t ruin the ending for you, but it chokes me up every time.  

The Scientists Have Spoken

There is research that is being presented that may explain some of the “Sasquatch” sightings in both the United States and Canada. The theory is that the American black bear (Ursus americanus) is the culprit and can be mistaken for a “Sasquatch”. They even have a mathematical formula included in the research. This is just a theory at this time. For some reason I picture scientists walking around the woods in white lab coats counting black bears.

I Still Believe "Sasquatch" Is In Montana

I am not a scientist and don’t pretend to be one on the radio. I have my own theories. I believe “Sasquatch” is real, and they are in Montana. I just believe that they like to hang out with black bears.
