Take In The Beauty Of Montana’s Little River Towns
One of the HUGE reasons I love Great Falls is the Missouri River that runs right through town. Not only is it beautiful, it provides us with so many recreational activities that we take for granted every day. Let's take a peek at 5 of my favorite smaller river towns under the big sky.
Montana's Beautiful Little River Towns
St. Regis is on the confluence of the Clark Fork and St. Regis Rivers. Fishing, canoeing, and rafting are some of the recreational activities you'll see the most on this river. There are also outfitters that work year-round.
Twin Bridges is actually on the confluence of 3 Montana rivers, Ruby/Beaverhead/Big Hole that come together to form a 4th Montana river, Jefferson River. This is a very popular section of river to float if you're looking to chill and enjoy the day.
Gardiner River is a tributary of Yellowstone River and the town of Gardiner sits at the North entrance to Yellowstone National Park, yes, the one with the arch. Fishing, floating, and guided trips are very popular in Gardiner.

Just like Great Falls, a river runs through Ennis, the Madison River. Between the winding river, and both mountain ranges, floating, fishing and other recreating on the Madison river has the background of some of the most spectacular scenery around.
Fort Benton. Can you really do an article about cozy Montana river towns and leave out Fort Benton, the oldest continuously operating town in Montana? Of course not. Did I use an AI generated photo, yes. I used them in all the others, so why not here? Anyway, Fort Benton offers tons of ways to recreate on the Missouri. That includes a lazy walk along the river in the Fort Benton Historic District.
There are, of course, a few more in the state. These are just the rivers and towns that came to mind when I thought about writing this. If I missed a notable town, hit me up on our app and tell me why. Bonus points for including pictures I can use in an article.
