You are not alone. It seems that all of us have at least a few foods that we indulge in during the holiday season. My list is probably longer than most, and I'm OK with that.

Delicious, simple pleasures are one of the best parts of the Christmas season. We asked a bunch of our Montana friends about their personal "holiday treats" and the answers were incredibly interesting. Everyone's face seems to light up when we're talking about our favorite foods.

Some treats were elaborate, homemade items made every year as a family tradition. Others were perfectly normal everyday products that folks only indulged in during the holidays. (I definitely have one of those on my list!)

Candied Walnuts: Several people mentions these easy, sweet nuts that are simple to make and absolutely delicious. (I remember my Mom making these every once in a while and it required hours of cracking open whole walnuts in their shells with a hammer. Safety first, kids.)

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry: Who doesn't love this savory round of goodness? It might make a few appearances throughout the year but baked brie (thankfully) seems to be everpresent during the holiday season. The best part? It's actually super easy to make.

Fancy Ice Creams: It might be an expensive brand or an unusual flavor - Montanans seem to partake more often during the holiday season. Ice cream may not seem very exotic, but purchasing a high-end brand or unusual flavor can 'up' the dessert game.

Homemade Eggnog: This was appropriately the most popular response. Sure, you could make eggnog anytime of the year but who on earth does that? Boozy eggnog was by far more popular than non-boozy nog. Shocking. You can certainly buy a carton at the store and add a shot or two, but making your own eggnog is so much better.

Deviled Eggs: We vote for deviled eggs all year long! Unless eggs aren't your thing at all, very few people don't like a good deviled egg. (Extra mustard for me, please.) These days you can pick up a tray at any deli counter but like most items on this list, homemade deviled eggs are definitely the way to go.

According to The History Channel, deviled eggs go all the way back to ancient Rome, where eggs were boiled, seasoned with spicy sauces, and then served at the beginning of meals. In the 13th century, stuffed eggs began to appear in the southern, Andalusian regions of Spain.

Caramelized Onion Dip: Holiday gatherings are no time to be worrying about bad breath...although you're probably more likely to be kissing people, soooo. Whatever. Onion dips, especially fancy ones, are uber popular at Christmas parties. Rarely will you find any left at the end of the night. Plus, dips are so easy to make ahead of time.

Another fun idea for your holiday party could include a "Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar". This works too if you have guests who are staying with you and you've got time for a lazy, boozy brunch. (Of course you could have virgin Bloodies too, which are still fun with all the fixin's.)
