
Travel Through Yellowstone National Park Down for June 2026
I might be pressing the numbers a touch, but Yellowstone National Park has to be one of the top destinations not just in America, but in the world. But is it losing the luster and allure for tourists to see Old Faithful or any of the attractions that dot the amazing park?
The National Park Service has released visitation numbers for the popular park, and at first glance, the above question may stand. But a closer look reveals that while numbers may be down, it is far from being out as a must-see destination.

Travel Through Yellowstone National Park Down for June 2026
In a press release through the Yellowstone Public Affairs office, visitation at the park for June 2026 was down nearly 3% compared to data from the same time in 2025. However, when compared to the record year of 2021, it was only down about 35K visitors, or 4% less.

The park is still going strong, with 903,025 total recreational visitors for the month, down from the 928,250 of 2025 and 938,845 recreation visits for the record year of 2021.

Year to Date Numbers Outpacing Those of the Record Year in 2021 in Yellowstone Park
Data also showed that despite being behind in the month of June, Yellowstone National Park is on pace to perhaps have one of the largest years of visitation ever. Park recreation visits to date for 2026 are sitting at 1,676,678 recreation visits.

A little behind 2025, but also ahead of 2021 with 1,587,998 visits during the record year. The overall visitation record at the park for visits is also 2021, with over 4.8 million recreation visits.
