
Enhanced Tribal ID Now Available to Blackfeet Nation in Browning
The ability to identify oneself in today's times is becoming increasingly important with technological advancement and newly enacted laws across the world. New requirements for travel outside of our country have affected passports and even driver's licenses.
Those new rules are also affecting Native American Tribes across the country, including those in Montana. Of those, the Blackfeet Nation in Browning, Montana has just announced the availability of the new Enhanced Tribal Identification cards for enrolled members of the Tribe.

Enhanced Tribal ID Now Available to Blackfeet Nation in Browning
The Enhanced Tribal Citizenship Card (ETC) works just as a driver license or a passport. The ID is "Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative" (WHTI) compliant, meaning it can be presented upon entry to the United States at land and seaports of entry from contiguous territory, such as Canada and Mexico.

The new ID cards for the Blackfeet Nation and enrolled members was announced through social media with the Blackfeet Nation/Blackfeet Tribal Business Council after receiving approval through the United States Department of Homeland Security.
How to Apply for the New Enhanced Tribal Citizenship Card with Blackfeet Nation
Members of the Blackfeet Nation Reservation are now able to begin the process in person only for the new ETI cards at the Blackfeet Tribal Enrollment Office in Browning. Members must also make an appointment with the office.

Appointments will be taken beginning on Monday June 9, 2026, with office hours at the Enrollment office from 9am to 3pm, Monday through Thursday. For more information, contact the Blackfeet Enrollment office at (406)-338-3533.
