Regarding retiring in Montana, the data from WalletHub shows that the Treasure State falls pretty much smack dab in the middle.
The data shows us leaning slightly toward the better side in terms of retirement, but as I mentioned above, Montana certainly has its challenges.
If you're looking for an active lifestyle and hope to get out and explore after retirement, Montana is definitely the state for you!
If you're looking for more of a relaxed, laid-back lifestyle, somewhere warm or on a beach might be more fitting.
I go back and forth as to where I might retire someday.
However, I strongly suspect it will be somewhere where I don't have to shovel. haha
