Let's get this out of the way: no matter how you feel about politics, I hope we can agree any support for Montana agriculture is welcome now more than ever.

It's no secret that producers have felt the brunt of the Iran conflict and rising prices in the last few months.

Now, it looks like relief could be on the horizon.

President Trump Makes Big Request to Help Farmers

According to a report from Bloomberg, President Trump has reportedly requested $11.1 billion in assistance to help the ag industry get its footing. The assistance would primarily benefit producers of corn, soybeans, and rice.

This is in addition to the Executive Order signed by the President last Thursday.

The signed order is designed to "promote continued advances in precision agriculture technologies; significantly increase Federal investment in regenerative agriculture practices, research, and education; and spur private-sector innovation in farm modernization by reducing red tape and strengthening public-private partnerships."

According to the order, "these actions empower American farmers and ranchers with the additional mechanisms to ensure a healthy, abundant, and affordable food supply for the American people."

"Farmers are grateful to have the president’s backing at such a critical time after enduring years of economic losses due to inflation and depressed markets," American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall said in a news release from the Farm Bureau.

"Additional aid will give farmers optimism headed into harvest later this year as they await the benefits of enhanced farm bill programs, better market access overseas and stronger domestic demand."

We'll find out if the bill passes in due time, but until then - it'll be interesting to see how or if this proposed relief will clash with other wartime and political battles in DC.

That said... help could be on the way sooner than later. What do you think? Let me know your thoughts HERE.
