Having a child is a huge responsibility and with rising costs around the world, it's definitely a big financial one.

Now, a new study is highlighting just how expensive that financial responsibility is.

How Much Does It Cost to Raise a Child to the Age of 18?

As a father of three children, I can relate with parents who will tell you there's a lot that goes into raising a child. From diapers to food costs, childcare and medical... it can all add up pretty quick.

Then you've got the possible expenses that come from youth activities, insurance, their first car, etc. It adds up quick!

Lending Tree recently shared data from a study revealing how much int costs to raise a child. According to their findings, the national cost of raising a child from birth to 18-years-old has risen to $303,418 or an average of $16,857 annually over the course of 18 years. Ouch!

But what is the cost in Montana?

How Much Does It Cost to Raise a Child in Montana?

According to Lending Tree's study, the cost to raise a child from birth to the age of 18 in Montana is $293,296, which is up from 2025's number of $241,452, a 21% increase. That percentage increase is the third highest in the country behind only Kansas and Alaska.

Annually, this breaks down to about $16,294 a year, which is up from $13,414 a year from 2025's study.
