Congressman Rosendale visits MAGIE 2023 in Great Falls and talks Ag Issues

Congressman Matt Rosendale was in town recently where he stopped into MAGIE 2023. Although visiting with vendors and producers was a highlight of his stop, the biggest smiles came when he stopped at the Grizz Biz booth in the lobby of the Pacific Steel and Recycling 4 Seasons Arena. Rosendale had an opportunity to visit with each of the young entrepreneurs and learn about how and why they make their various products. The Congressman also took some time to visit with Pat & Randy on the 560 KMON Morning show.  This was his response when asked about the EPA/ government overreach in relation to the Waters of the United States, better known as WOTUS:

Rosendale: Your spot on, Randy, not only not listening to the producers, but not listening to the precedent that the Supreme Court has already sent out. I mean the Supreme Court listened to arguments about the EPA versus West Virginia, and the Supreme Court came out and said that the EPA had overstepped their bounds and was making decisions that Congress had not stipulated and they were out of their lane. I couldn't be at several of the Farm Bureau meetings and some other meetings that were taking place this week, but I released videos and let them know that this Waters of the US deal is a really big problem. And I assure you that I'm going to fight this like the third monkey trying to get on Noah's Ark and the rain is starting to fall. I mean, I am going to be fighting against this EPA. There's no agency that should be governing and regulating dry creek beds and mud puddles around the farms and ranches of the state of Montana.

KMON: The 2023 Farm Bill is front and center for in Agriculture.  Congressman Rosendale was asked if he is following its progress.

Rosendale: Yeah, I've got my natural resource folks following that very closely, and we're trying to make sure that we can help develop as strong of a piece of legislation as we possibly can so that we can get this thing through. It's a very important component for our agricultural community, and that is very important to me.

The Congressman added a little humor with the next question.

KMON: The chairman of the largest industrial manufacturing company in Europe told a panel at the World Economic Forum people should stop eating meat in order to save the climate,  What do you think of that being Montana and meat and cattle and everything?

Rosendale: I need a lot of protein and soy ain't going to cut it. Okay. I like beef. I even like seafood sometimes, but I like beef. Absolutely rare. Not rarely. I like it rare. When I was a kid, my dad used to have raw beef on Sunday. That was, like, his treat. And he would go to the grocery store and he'd get some extremely lean, you know, high quality beef. He'd have them grind it up, and then he would mix it with chopped onions and sit there and eat it with just eating rice and a little salt and pepper.
