Ah yes, prom. A night of fun, memories, and dancing. For kids across the country, it's a night they'll remember for the rest of their lives.

The suits, the lights, the carnations, nice dinner before... you know the drill. That said, some folks are critiquing precautions authorities have taken to protect kids this prom season.

Blackfeet Nation/Blackfeet Tribal Business Council Announces Temporary Alcohol Ban

This past weekend, Blackfeet Nation/Blackfeet Tribal Business Council shared an announcement on their Facebook about no alcohol being sold on specific dates.

"There will be no alcohol sales Saturday April 18, 2026 for the Browning Prom and Saturday April 25, 2026 for the Heart Butte Prom from 8:00 am to 2:00 am," Blackfeet Nation said in their post.

"Thank you for your cooperation in supporting a safe and positive event for our students and community."

And look, I think it's a great way to prevent bad decisions from possibly being made. You get ahead of it now, and prevent problems later, right?

Well, not everyone sees it that way.

Blackfeet Nation's Announcement Draws Criticism

Despite this idea being nothing new, not everyone is pleased with the announcement.

"I know exactly who’s doing this to us," one person commented, "Not all of us believe in your ways."

"So now everyone knows to purchase their alcohol in advance," another wrote, "It's a nice idea just poorly executed."'

"Right! Everybody go stock up today," another added.

And while there were a few upset, I did notice some folks supporting the decision.

"Be safe and have fun that’s all anyone can do. Don’t want to make a mistake that lasts your entire life."
