Hey Great Falls Businesses, Please Stop Making Us Ask for the Potty Key

So, there I was the other day at a certain department store when nature decided to call. Hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go. When I got to the bathroom, I saw an employee come out with the door closing behind them. When I walked up to the now-closed door, it was locked.

I went around the corner and came across an employee that told me I had to get a key from the lady at the register. Doh!

Unfortunately, the lady at the register had her hands full with a line full of real customers with real needs. So, I got out of there and "took my business" elsewhere if you know what I mean.

Are Bathroom Keys Needed in Great Falls?

Honest question and you can troll me about it if you'd like HERE. But let's say you have to ask for the key for "security purposes"...

How many times has someone asked for the bathroom key and then been rejected?

What's the criteria for turning someone away and denying them the key attached to a oversized wooden arrow?

By now you get where I'm going with this: If most employees are going to give the key to the person asking for it anyway, what's the point of requiring customers to ask for it in the first place?

Now thankfully, I wasn't with my three-year-old who was potty training. But if we had got to the bathroom and it was occupied, I could live with that - it's no one's fault if they have to go to the bathroom.

And that's the entire point of this article.

It's a First World Problem and Pointless

I know it is, I agree with a lot of you. This is probably one of the most futile arguments and topics I'll ever write about.

That should also speak to how silly the entire premise of having customers ask for permission to go to the bathroom like they're back in the third grade. We're all adults and if someone abuses their bathroom privilege, let's cross that bridge when we get there, eh?

I'm asking as a courtesy to us - the customers who sometimes just can't hold it.
