This past Sunday, the longest government shutdown in American history came one step closer to an end.

During this shutdown, a recurring argument was that politicians should not receive their salaries while the government was closed.

I was surprised to learn that the US president does not get everything for free.

Sure, they get free housing by being able to live in the White House; they also get free health care.
