You hear people say it all the time, "Just wait until those transplants get a taste of their first Montana winter; they'll leave soon enough after that."
Well, what if our Montana winters aren't really all that bad, and we've just been telling ourselves lies about how bad and harsh our winters are?

Now can Montana have some pretty harsh winter climates? You bet we can, but it just turns out we aren't as bad off as we thought.
It's not just us though, as we're actually higher in the rankings than Alaska when it comes to winters being miserable.
So how is it that two places that consistently get pointed to as an example of what a harsh winter is both aren't in the top 10?
Montana Winters Differ Depending On Where You Live
With Montana being so massive in land size, it's not really that shocking that certain sections of the state can be experiencing completely different weather.
That is what I believe led the website Thrillist to rank Montana outside the top 10. Here is what they had to say about Montana winters.
Did you know that the Continental Divide can create distinct differences in sunlight, wind, precipitation, and temperature, depending on whether you’re in the eastern or western part of the state? Did you know that, either way, all the insufferable celebrities who thought it’d be “rustic” to own a ranch up there sure aren’t taking advantage of said property in January? Wait, maybe that’s actually a positive?
