The Housing Situation In Montana Is Getting Worse Every Year

In December 2023, a report was given to congress on the state of homelessness in America, 2023 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR).  The Daily Montanan reports these statistics:

• Montana saw the largest increase, 551%, of individuals experiencing chronic patterns of homelessness from 2007 to 2023, according to the 2023 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report to Congress.
• Montana saw the second-largest increase in homeless youth, 76%, from 2022 to 2023, the report said. (North Dakota had the largest at 89%.)
• Montana saw the second-largest percentage increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness from 2007 to 2023, at 89%. (The first was Vermont at 218%.)
• From 2022 to 2023, Montana had the third-largest percentage increase, 45%, in the number of people experiencing homelessness. (New Mexico was at 57% and New Hampshire was at 55%.)
• Most states decreased their numbers of homeless veterans since 2009. However, from 2009 to 2023, the number of veterans experiencing homelessness increased in four states, including Montana (one veteran). (Maine remained level from 2009 to 2023.)

I am not the only person in the state to be writing about this.  It's happening all over Montana.  It's just nobody wants to hear it because people are making a killing financially by selling our homes and land off to the highest bidder.

Montana's Home Values FOUR TIMES HIGHER Than Montana's Median Income

That is simply unsustainable.  The One percenters buying up our state are going to have to wait on themselves pretty quick if we all can't afford to buy OR rent.  The Missoulian reported in November 2023

Montana home values are 51% higher than pre-pandemic levels, which is higher than the U.S. average of 40% and ranks eighth highest of all states. The typical home value in Montana averaged $440,000 in the first quarter of 2023 compared with $280,000 three years ago. Missoula County saw home values increase 46% from the first part of 2020 to the first part of 2023.

Montana Is Not A State That Can Support Homelessness

Is it going to take finding dead people under bridges when it's 20 below before anyone does anything about this? And then, if it does take something that extreme, is it going to "get fixed" by the one percent who just want to shuffle them off to a neighborhood they don't frequent and leave finding the frozen dead to their own people, the poors?
