On June 24, 2022 The United States Supreme Court overturned Roe versus Wade, leaving it to the states to decide whether or not a woman can make the choice to end a pregnancy.

The number of young men getting vasectomies is skyrocketing.

Since the decision to overturn this law, the number of men in America getting vasectomies is up around 400 percent.  When researching this recent phenomenon, it turns out many men are doing this to protect the women in their lives.  One doctor told the Washington Post

“I’d say at least 60 or 70 percent are mentioning the Supreme Court decision, And a few of them have such sophistication as young men that they actually are thinking about Justice Thomas and his opinion that contraception may fall next. And that’s shocking. That’s something that doesn’t enter into our conversations ever, until this week.”

Another man expressed:

He doesn't want his girlfriend, to “stress over getting pregnant” because of a potential lack of access to birth control in the future. “The world is a scary place and you don’t know what’s coming, because it seems like we’re moving backward.”

The other thing that seems to be rushing men to make these appointments for vasectomies is what Judge Thomas said when passing down the decision on Roe V Wade:

“In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including GriswoldLawrence, and Obergefell,

Griswold, Lawrence and Oberfefell is a case that legalized the right to obtain contraception if you're married, the right to same-sex intimacy and the right to same-sex marriage. That became law in 1965. What's odd, Thomas never mentioned overturning the interracial marriage thing, probably because his wife, Virginia, is white.

There's good news

Good news guys, vasectomies are usually covered by insurance.  And, in my research, rarely are you turned down for the procedure by your doctor, no matter what your age. And it's generally reversible.

Next article will be on what happens when women want their tubes tied.  Not.  Even.  The.  Same.
